Newcastle was our favorite spot to stop off as we drove our caravan down south for the summer months. We went to visit my father’s brother, my uncle Joe who lived on a farm in Bendigo which is a town in Victoria. Like most of the beach towns that we passed on the way south Newcastle always seemed to be the least busy which is why we like to visit there. One year our car was in the mechanics and we were not going to get it back in time for the holiday so we hire the exact same model Holden as the one we have from the agents at car hire Newcastle.
It was easy to book the car online and we could even pick it up from the city we leave from and drop it off to them as well. We liked to use the Newcastle branch because they know us really well because we always say hello from the coffee shop next door to the agents.

Newcastle is one of the towns that is just a bit above Sydney on the map of New South Wales but is not too far away that a good driving holiday would not be the perfect way to spend a family vacation together. Holidays are all about trying to unwind from work, relaxing, trying something different, finding a new place to enjoy yourself and generally doing the things that you want to do, or not do if that is the case.
Newcastle has some pleasant beaches and safe rock pools to play in while you take some time in the summer sun. Make sure to put plenty of sunscreen in you before you go outside so that you reduce the risk of getting a skin cancer from the harsh Australian sun. Take some time to enjoy the water activities while you stay in Newcastle because beach towns can be very fun for a nice break away from work. So when you are holidaying on a sub tropical beach destination enjoy all there is to do and see while you have the time to do so.
